Recorder Lesson 4

Eeeezee Deeezee Lemon Squeezee

Great work in Lessons one, two and Three.

Now we are going to take a big step forward. We are going to use the fingers on our right hand. For this lesson we are going to play an "E" and a "D"

To Play an "E" we cover the hole on the back of your recorder with our left thumb.
Cover the first, second and third hole on the front of your recorder with the first, second and third finger of our left hand.
Place the thumb of our right on the back of your recorder behind the forth hole.
Place the first finger of our right hand ont the forth hole on the front of the recorder
Place the second finger of our right hand ont the fifth hole on the front of the recorder

Place the recorder to your lips and blow gently.

To Play a "D" we do the same as an"E" and the third finger of our right hand on the sixth hole on the front of the recorder.

Place the recorder to your lips and blow gently.

We are going to play a new tune with a different rythmn.
This time see if you can read the rythmn from the music.
Clap the rythmn first then clap along with the track.

The track starts with the Wood Block playing 2 Bars to show us the tempo (speed).

When you are ready, Join in.

Like we did in our first two lessons we have a slower version we play first the learn the notes and rythmn
and a faster performance piece. Which as before we play through 4 times.

This new piece has a very different rythmn, and it has some shorter notes.

Please Note For the introduction to the recorder and wood block playback you will hear a loud high click followed by two quiet low clicks and a loud low click followed by two quiet low clicks. This is because in 6/8 time there are two beats in a bar and each beat is 3 quavers (eighth notes) long. When we count in 6/8 we say ONE, 2, 3, TWO, 2, 3.
For the performance version you will just hear the two beats, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock

So this time we have a slower first Practise button to help us get our fingers used to the quick changes.
As always we suggest you clap through the rythmn first, then play along on your recorder.

Good Luck and have Fun
